Gourd Art natural pattern decorative rich earth tones stand home decor homegrown rustic unique LARGE
I believe this started out in my garden as a dipper gourd! It is a large, hard-shell gourd that would complement any decor perfectly!!
I loved the natural pattern on this gourd and decided it was too pretty to cover up!! So, I used a translucent color to bring out the highlights in the pretty markings! I then used 3 coats of varnish to bring out the rest of the pretty color and patterns, and protect the design. The gourd is much richer looking and prettier than I could capture in the pictures!
The stand is also made from a gourd piece and glued to the bottom. The original stem remains.
This is a decorative item that would be cute in any home setting!
Measures 26" at tallest point, about 8" across. The base is about 4" diameter.
*****All of my gourds are homegrown! It is at least a year-long process - I start seeds in April, transfer to the garden end of May, they spend a summer enjoying the heat (and hopefully rain!) and then they rest and cure in my barn or greenhouse during the winter. In the spring, they are dried out, cleaned and then the hard-shelled gourds are ready for creating pieces of functional, whimsy art for the home!!
As with any painted art, I recommend all hand painted/inked/dyed gourds be kept out of direct sunlight, to help preserve the colors. *****
