GOURD Art Long Snake decorative earth browns gold alcohol ink acrylic home grown wooden stand rustic decor African
This is a snake gourd that has been cleaned and painted with inks and acrylics. I also used some gold and copper leaf to brighten it up! The wooden stand is custom made also by my husband. This is a very sturdy, interesting piece of art. I realize you either love this kind of thing or....are not a fan of snakes.....but it's still super cool and would go great in any rustic decor as a great conversation piece!
There are 3 coats of protective varnish also. The gourd has not been opened up and you can hear hundreds or thousands? of seeds rattling on shaking!
Snake is not glued to the stand. The stand was made exclusively to showcase this gourd!
On the stand, the overall height to the top is 14" tall, longest point across is about 27" and the actual gourd is 11" at tallest point.
As with any painted art, I recommend all hand painted/inked/dyed gourds be kept indoors, out of direct sunlight, to help preserve the colors and design. *****

*****All of my gourds are homegrown! It is at least a year-long process - I start seeds in April, transfer to the garden end of May, they spend a summer enjoying the heat (and hopefully rain!) and then they rest and cure in my barn or greenhouse during the winter. In the spring, they are dried out, cleaned and then the hard-shelled gourds are ready for creating pieces of functional, whimsy art for the home!!
